Every August the Naplan results come back for year 3, year 5, year 7 and Year 9 which give parents and teachers and overview of general numeracy and literacy levels for students.

The 3-month turnaround between doing the tests in May to getting the results in August can be an anxious wait and a little deceiving as the student may be doing better in particular topics or questions they got wrong in the Naplan exams.

As a parent of a child myself who has sat the Naplan tests, I place greater importance on the school reports which give a better indication of sustained effort and performance.

Some students will be well prepared for Naplan, get decent results in the tests but then switch off for the rest of the school year.

Whilst overall performance in school is more important, here is a simple way to master Naplan exams in a simple way that doesn’t require much time.

  • Firstly students need to implement our 4 pillars to academic success M.O.R.E – Motivation, Organisation, Responsibility and Exercise (commitment to action)
  • Study smarter – Learn 5-10 marks of practice Naplan tests at a time before going back to revise from the start
  • Exam game plan – 3-step technique (R.U.B) to remove anxiety and nerves so that students perform at their best

The simple science to improved Naplan results is taught to both parents and students at my free Motivation, Study Skills and Inner peace seminar.

It is so we are all on the same page and your child will commit to weekly study which is simple and allows time to be a kid and have fun as well. Results in a balanced, sustainable way.
